Corkscrews – for screwcaps…

Posted by Simon on December 4, 2009

Yes, you read it correctly. May I introduce The Butterfly…

This not, I hasten to add, the same sort of butterfly that some people were introduced to in their university days – it was the female equivalent of The Turtle, but let’s not go there. No, according to the web site, ‘Using a patent pending design, The Butterflyâ„¢ Wine Opener lets vinos open screw capped, Stelvin, or threaded wine bottles with the aesthetic appeal of traditional cork presentation.’

Not sure what a ‘vino’ is in this context, all I know is that I don’t want a Butterfly for Christmas, nor do I want a decanting funnel, a drip stop, a thermometer or a cellar book. And if you’re thinking of buying such things for friends who are wine lovers, spend the money on a decent bottle of something nice instead.

(thanks to @drvino & @yancharbonneau to putting me on to this)

You’ve got it all wrong Simon, think of all those people who can’t mentally deal with…opening a screwcap…
