A trio of Portuguese whites from Quinta de Paços

Casa de Paços Superior 2015, VR Minho, Portugal (N/A in the UK)
Bracing young wine, with a crisp lemony edge to the fresh apple and nut flavours, a salty briny bite and a backbone of steely minerality. B+

Quinta de Paços Morgado do Perdigão Alvarinho & Loureiro 2015, VR Minho, Portugal (N/A in the UK)
Again there’s the nut kernel, apple and mineral notes here, but this has been bolstered by the juicy peachiness of Alvarinho. But despite the extra weight, this is still a crisp, fresh delight. S(-)

Casa do Capitão-mor Alvarinho Reserva 2015, Vinho Verde, Portugal (£16.20 Alfama Wines)
More backward than the previous two, but opens up with time in the glass to show the lovely heady nut kernel and peach of Alvarinho, with a salty/savoury tang and a streak of citrus acidity to maintain freshness. Very good, would love to see this in 2 years’ time. S
