Albariño meets Alvarinho

Casa do Capitão-mor Alvarinho 2015, Vinho Verde, Portugal (£12.90 Alfama Wines)
Young and fresh, a bracing tang of sea air and mineral in among the lightly spicy (ginger?) just-ripe peach and citrus peel flavours. Very tasty, and quite full bodied. S(-)

Anselmo Mendes Alvarinho 2015, Vinho Verde, Portugal (£11.99 Laithwaites)
A daintier, finer-boned style than the above, wonderfully tense yet flavour-packed wine, with the nectarine and clementine fruit pepped up with herby notes, and an Atlantic bite to perk up the finish. S

Torres Pazo das Bruxas Albariño 2015, Rias Baixas, Spain (£11.99 Mitchells Vintners, Taurus Wines, Taylor’s Fine Wine, Soho Wine Supply, Grape Sense, Trina’s Wines)
Brisk, zippy wine, green apple flavours pepped up by pithy lemon zestiness, and a floral, almost nutty note on the finish. B+
