Burgundy, Beaujolais and Bais. OK, Pais…

Another batch of videos in an attempt to clear the backlog. Beginning with one of the best wines I’ve had this year…

Maison Harbour Gevrey Chambertin La Justice 2015, Burgundy, France (£48.33 Vino Beano)
Oh yum. Wonderfully supple style, still desperately young, but already showing its immense charms. Lovely pure gentle plum, berry and red cherry flavour, hints of spice and notes of violet, truffles and undergrowth, all supported by vibrant acidity and classy but never dominant coffee-scented oak. G

While on red Burgundy, no video for the Louis Latour Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2015 (~£16.99 Majestic, FL Dickins, Partridges, Milford Wine, The Vintage House) but it’s another decent wine from this great vintage. It manages to be both ripe and tangy, with lightly spicy earthy notes alongside the squishy plum and red berry flavours, and a backbone of quite firm tannin that hints at a promising future for those who can resist it now. Now onto Beaujolais

Henry Fessy Beaujolais-Villages 2015, Burgundy, France (£11.99 Stonewines, Cheers Wine Merchants, Mr Wheeler, FL Dickins, Small Beer, Oddbins, North and South Wines)
Vibrant, refreshing and still felling young, this brims with juicy cherry and raspberry flavours, with notes of earthy spice and an iron-like bite to the finish. B+

Domaine Les Roches Bleues Brouilly 2016, Burgundy, France (£11.99 Virgin Wines)
Ripe young style, fresh and sappy with reasonable red berry flavour, but a little short and simple. B-

And finally not a wine from Gamay but a Chilean red that take some of its cues from Beaujolais…

Miguel Torres Reserva de Pueblo 2014, Secano Interior, Chile (£10.99 Hoults Wine Merchants, Thind Wine Merchants, Roberts and Speight, Dronfield Wine World)
Curious wine. I quite like the rounded red berry & plum flavours, and notes of rosehip and earthy tobacco, but it veers towards the medicinal, and I’d have preferred to see a younger vintage. B(-)
