Having produced lists of top Australian and New Zealand wines for a number of years, wine writer and consultant Matthew Jukes has recently turned his attention to South Africa. As with any such list, I’m in favour of several of the inclusions in Jukesy’s 50 Top Cape Wines (it’s here) but I also find myself going, Hang on, what about….?’ In this instance and off the top of my head, my ‘what about?’s include Cape Point, Eben Sadie, Meerlust, de Trafford, Jean Daneel, Vilafonte, The Observatory… There are probably more, but I can’t think of them at the moment – three days of wine and food in Sicily have numbed my brain.
