Miguel Torres Manso de Velasco Cabernet Sauvignon 2011, Curicó, Chile

Miguel Torres Manso de Velasco Cabernet Sauvignon 2011, Curicó, Chile (£28.99 Soho Wine Supply, Portland Wine Company, Hoults Wine Merchants, Telford Wines)
A dark, brooding beast of a wine when you first open it, still crouching and waiting to pounce. But soon it comes to life, showing some classic Chilean blackcurrant character, but also an almost Spanish-like herby/dusty warmth, alongside notes of chocolate and liquorice. And while the flavours are quite bold, they’re never too shouty, and are reined in by fresh acidity and ripe tannins that will keep it in good condition for several years to come. S+
