Two delicious but quite different Sauvignons

Australia Week Day 2, although another country muscles its way into this video. Thought both of these Sauvignons were excellent, although quite different (and apologies for the lighting…)

Shaw & Smith Sauvignon Blanc 2014, Adelaide Hills, Australia (£15.99 Selfridges, Askewine, Noel Young Wines, Horne & Daughters, ND John, The Vineyard, Ozwines, Winedirect)
Rounder and smoother than the low alcohol and tender age would lead you to believe, but still has classic ‘green’ flavours – cut grass, nettles, sappy lemon and lime – with some stony mineral notes to pep up the finish. Shellfish please. S

Vergelegen Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2013, Stellenbosch, South Africa (£17.99 In the Pink, Hailsham Cellars, The Drink Shop, vintagemarque.com)
A rich, full style for Sauvignon, with some toasty notes alongside the greengage and passionfruit flavours, but there’s still enough sappy freshness to keep it all in order, plus an earthy undercurrent to add further interest. S
