Two Pinot Noirs from the Loire Valley

Have to say that I prefer the Sauvignons from these two domaines…

Jamain ReuillyDenis Jamain ‘Les Pierres Plates’ Reuilly Rouge 2013, Loire, France (£14.95 Berry Bros & Rudd)
2013 wasn’t the best of vintages in the Loire, and while there’s OK red fruit flavours here, this is just a little fey and stalky and (unlike the wine below) doesn’t improve with time in the glass. C

l'Hermitage Menetou RedDomaine de l’Ermitage Menetou-Salon Rouge 2014, Loire, France (£14.95 From Vineyards Direct)
Starts off quietly but then opens up to show quite rich red cherry and strawberry flavours, with a slightly earthy note. Maybe a touch simple, but a decent juicy mouthful. B(+)
