Two reds from Priorat

Frares Priorat 2013, Catalunya, Spain (£13.00 Marks & Spencer)
Plenty of burly plum and damson jam flavour plus dark berry flesh, but there’s still freshness form somewhere, despite the 15% alcohol. Add in warm dustiness, some smoky bacon and a wild, spicy element and you have a fascinating young and appealing wine. S

Taste The Difference Priorat 2011, Catalunya, Spain (£10 Sainsbury’s)
A different style from the Frares, more on the dried fruit raisin and fig style, but there’s still a herby/spicy element and some freshness on the finish. Cassoulet please. S-
