Wine tasting Video – Rosé wines from six countries

Yali Wetland Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé 2011, Colchagua, Chile (£6.99 Morrisons)
Not much to start with but then opens up to show fresh but gentle red berry, blackcurrant and redcurrant fruit freshened up by notes of citrus and baked apple. B(-)

Guerrieri Rizzardi Bardolino DOC Chiaretto 2011, Veneto, Italy (£12.99 Harrods, The Vine Shop, The Wine Alley)
There’s a soft, warm summer pudding feel to the fruit here, with some spicy ginger flavour to pep up the rounded berry flavours and some chewy tannin. B-

Harvey Nichols Corbières Rosé 2011, Languedoc, France (£11.00 Harvey Nichols)
Not immediately impressive, but the warm spicy red fruit flavours and fleshy texture grow on you. B(+)

Lyrarakis Okto Rosé 2011, Crete, Greece (N/A in the UK)
Rounded and sweet with a quite exotic, Muscat like aroma. Warm and spicy, with decent cherry and berry flavours but let down by a slightly medicinal edge. C(+)

Torres Viña Sol Rosé 2011, Catalunya, Spain (£5.98 – £7.19 Asda, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Majestic)
Another slow starter, but opens up to show warmth, spice and summer pudding ripeness with a touch of vanilla – strawberry Mivvi lollies… A crowd-pleaser, but a touch simple. B-
(would love to provide a link to the details of this wine, but when I type “Vina Sol” into the search facility on the Torres website – both with and without the ~ – nothing comes up….)

Ridgeback Shiraz Rosé 2011, Paarl South Africa (£8.99 The Real Wine Company)
Pale in colour with a touch of red berry, but thanks to the notes of kiwi fruit, citrus and apple, I could easily have mistaken this for a white wine. Not sure whether that is a positive or a negative… B(-)
