Wine Tasting Video: Spanish Reds from Rioja, Navarra and Catalunya

Londoño Rioja Crianza 2008 (contact vinissimus.co.uk for details)
Hairy-chested young wine that oozes warm earthy confidence. Add in wild gutsy berry fruit and touches of vanilla and spice and you have a lovely bouncy vibrant wine. S(-)

Falset Marçà Ètim Negre Montsant 2007 (£9.13 Bibendum)
Gluggable sausage-friendly wine par excellence, this has a character of hot dusty terracotta roof tiles on top of its mellow, gentle berry, cherry and fruitcake flavours, with notes of orange peel, herbs and spice to pep up the finish. S

DSG Vineyards Pasolasmonjas Garnacha 2007, Navarra (£8.64 vinissimus.co.uk)
Initially rather in-yer-face and a touch volatile, but calms down after several hours to show exotic, aromatic five-spice and citrus peel notes and lithe cherry and berry flesh with a touch of raisin – think Châteauneuf warmth, Pinot Noir allure. (+)

Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Priorat 2007 (£9.99)
White Burgundy!?! Hard to get much red fruit character here, but there is that mealy, creamy, rounded nuttiness you find in Burgundy. Quite bizarre, but not uninteresting. ???
