Wine Tasting Video: Sparkling wines from England, Portugal & Champagne

Luis Pato Maria Gomes Sparkling Metodo Antigo, Beiras, Portugal (£12.99 Corks of Cotham, Highbury Vintners, Wright Wine Company, Raymond Reynolds)
Interesting style, not hugely fruity, although there is a touch of grated apple, but there are attractive characters such as ginger and rose petal, with floral and creamy notes in there too. B

Ambriel Classic Cuvée NV, West Sussex, England (£25 The Wine Pantry, Press Wine Services, Butlers Wine Cellar)
Young, simple style, has the crisp tang of green apple with a fuller raspberry flavour too, a touch of sweetness balances the tartness, and the finish has plenty of youthful exuberance. B(+)

Champagne Canard-Duchêne Authentic Rosé NV, France (£30 Majestic , L’Art du Vin)
OK red fruit flavours, but overall this is just a bit simple and slightly dull. C

Champagne Thiénot Brut Rosé NV, France (£40 Corks Out, PM Wine Cellars, L’Art du Vin, Upton Wines)
Quite rich red fruit flavours here, along with touches of apple (fresh and cooked), some citrus perkiness to liven it up, and a touch of meringue-meets-just-cooked sponge cake. Nice wine, classy finish. S-
