Wine Tasting Video: Three Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs

Villa Maria Cellar Selection Sauvignon Blanc 2010 (£11.99 Majestic, Tesco, Rhythm & Booze)
Has a reasonable gooseberry pie flavour, but let down by an overripe tinned pea and asparagus character, and a finish that is too sweet. Crowd pleaser but not subtle. B-

Blind River Sauvignon Blanc 2010 (£13.99 Oddbins)
Richer but less aggressive and more complex, restrained and confident, with exuberant ripe citrus, plum and greengage flavours backed up by river pebble minerality. Rich but refined. S

Dog Point Section 94 2008 (£20.40 Berry Bros & Rudd)
Funky wine with toasty oak in support of sappy floral characters and ripe apple, grapefruit and lemon, flavours, also has the yeasty/spent match character of barrel maturation and pithy pebbly minerality. S+
