If only all Bordeaux Rouge was this good…

Château Tour de Sarrail Bordeaux Rouge 2009, France (Vinorium £14.50)
Maturing gracefully, smooth and alluring, I like the warm, almost dusty, plummy black cherry and blackberry flavours and while there’s just a hint of slightly baked fruit, there’s still enough freshness to keep it alive. S-
(Hubert de Bouard of the famed Ch Angélus apparently has a hand in this…)

Jonathan Maltus ‘Garagiste’ Bordeaux Rouge 2012, France (£18.99 Naked Wines)
Young, crunchy style, not afraid to display the sweet sheen of vanilla-y oak, as there’s a wealth of ripe but vibrant blackcurrant and plum flavour to back it up. Was expecting something more brash, but this is really nice supple young wine. S-
