Two White Burgundies

Simonnet-Febvre Chablis 2014, Burgundy, France (£14.99 Campbell Moore, Hailsham Cellars, directwines.co.uk, Bablake Wines, The Mount Bay Wine Co, Bon Coeur, Edward Beer & Wine, Bakers and Larners of Holt, Hennings Fine Wines)
Has the classic Chablis combo of richness and leanness, with the bracing citrus and apple (fresh and cooked) flavours set against a slightly creamy, nutty character, and with some flinty/stony nuances to add further complexity. S-

Domaine Ferret Pouilly Fuissé 2013, Burgundy, France (£26.90 Fountainhall Wines, North and South Wines Ltd, Penistone Court Wine Cellars, Planet of the Grapes, Vino Wines, Taurus Wines Ltd, The Oxford Wine Company Ltd, Aitken Wines, Coruss Retail Ltd, Southwick Court Fine Wines Ltd, Edencroft Fine Wines, Partridges Of Sloane St Ltd, Peake Wine Associates, Wine Chambers, Last Drop Wines, Constantine Stores Ltd, The Red Bottle Company Ltd, Stop & Save)
Maybe it’s the vintage talking, but this is tauter than much Pouilly Fuissé. Yes, there’s quite fleshy peach and apricot flavour, plus a nutty note, but there’s also a steely mineral edge, and a zesty lemony bite. Delicious now, but has a promising future. S
