Wine Tasting Video: Alsace Pinot Gris

Cave de Turckheim Pinot Gris 2008 (£8.99 Majestic)
Offers a nice combination of richness and freshness, with juicy orange (fresh and crystallised), pineapple and peach flesh balanced by tangy citrus acidity. B+

Albert Boxler Pinot Gris 2008 (£28.26 Gauntleys of Nottingham)
Much bigger, weightier style, smells like it has less zest and zip, but more earthy, clay-like minerality. Tastes profound and delicious, with some sweetness, and alongside the exotic apricot and peach flavours, there is enough sweet & sour tension to keep it all together. G-

Ehrhart Domaine St Remy Pinot Gris Tradition 2008 (£12.30 Gauntleys of Nottingham)
Drier style, still with the exotic ginger-tinged peach and ripe citrus flavours, but also with a fine mineral tension – is there some slate in the soil here? Finishes with precision and poise. S(+)
