Wine Tasting Video: Reds from Argentina – but not Malbec…

Colonia Las Liebres Bonarda 2009, Mendoza (£7.99 Whole Foods Market, Selfridges, Highbury Vintners, Noble Green Wines, The Butlers Wine Cellar, Colchester Wine Company, Tivoli Wines, Noel Young Wines, The Halifax Wine Company, Carruthers & Kent, Flourish & Prosper)
Vibrant cherry, berry and plum flavours, rich and quite full-bodied, but with an almost European-style structure of earthy, chewy tannins and savoury acidity. S(-)

Bodegas O Fournier Urban Uco Tempranillo 2009, Uco Valley, Mendoza (£7.89-9.99 Great Grog, Butlers, Huntsbridge, D Byrne)
Showing the warmth and heat of the region, but although there’s a slight raisinny flavour and a baked edge, there’s still some freshness to the spicy dark fruit flesh – could easily be mistaken for Ribera del Duero. S-

Bodegas O Fournier B Crux 2006, Uco Valley, Mendoza (£14.99-£15.99 Huntsbridge, D Byrne, SH Jones, Martinez Wines)
Relaxed, juicy style of wine, with abundant black fruit flavour (plus touches of plum and redcurrant) some vanilla and spice, and a generous, almost meaty finish. Drinking well now, but bags of life ahead of it. S(+)
