Two Viogniers from the Languedoc

Not much quality-wise between these two, although they are different in style  – a blend of the two worked very well!

Asda Extra Special Pays d’Oc Viognier 2013, Languedoc, France (**£5 Asda)
This has the nutty pear and peach flavours, but they’re reined in by crisp citrus acidity. Maybe the finish could be softer, but this is decent enough. B(-)

Les Jamelles Pays d’Oc Viognier 2013, Languedoc, France (it was £6.49 Co-op)
A fleshier, peachier style, with more of the Viognier swagger, and the nut kernel character in the background. But maybe just a little too louche? B(-)

** I have £7.25 on the video, which is the price given me a few weeks ago by Asda – don’t know if this price of £5 that they have on the website is a permanent reduction…
